DEDHAM — The Dedham Planning Board approved amended economic development and housing chapters of the town's master plan implementation guide. Members unanimously continued a public hearing for 350 Washington Street to June 24 at 7 p.m. after the applicant's attorney requested more peer-review time. Much of the meeting involved line-by-line edits, including narrowing a proposed "on-call" economic emergency committee and fixing a typo that mislabeled an economic development committee strategy.
The board renewed calls to fund the town's affordable housing trust, established by town meeting but never capitalized, with one member saying, "Put a dime into this affordable housing trust, or even set it up, it's not even set up." Members also directed staff to draft new language addressing longtime homeowners' affordability struggles, not just new housing construction. Vice Chair Jessica Porter announced a Facilities Master Plan community event June 15 covering roughly 24 town sites and nearly 400 survey responses.
