DEDHAM — The Dedham School Committee's Ed Model Subcommittee voted 2-1 to keep elected members, not the Rennie Center consultant, in charge of picking three school facility options for detailed costing. The panel first voted 3-0 to eliminate two of four decision-making paths, then split 2-1 to adopt "option three," which lets Rennie Center recommend its top three of nine facility configurations while leaving the final call to the committee by around September or October. Member Josh Langmead said the choice "puts the decision on us," while the dissenting chair, identified only as Chris, argued the subcommittee should defer entirely to its paid consultant.
The subcommittee also voted 2-1 to replace Chris with Langmead as chair after a dispute over an unannounced meeting Langmead held with a Rennie Center contact, which Chris called an "off-the-books meeting."
