School Committee · Meeting of September 15, 2026

DEDHAM — The Dedham School Committee heard a final report recommending the district prioritize tiered academic supports and expanded career learning over the next decade. Consultants Laura Sorelli and Grace Wong of the Rennie Center for Education Research and Policy, after an 18-month engagement, told the board Dedham's per-pupil spending is the highest among 13 comparison districts and that only 39 percent of 10th graders met ELA MCAS expectations, the lowest mark in the comparison group. Sorelli called the push to "right-size" unusually small elementary and secondary class sections "our difficult recommendation, but our honest one." Superintendent Deirdre Murphy was unanimously appointed Dedham's representative to The Education Cooperative Board of Directors for 2026-2027.

The committee also gave final approval to two student-safety policies, JLCD and JKAA, and previewed a Sept. 29 meeting where ten facility options will be narrowed to three.
