Board of Health · Meeting of February 10, 2026

Dedham's Board of Health tabled kratom regulations until March while awaiting a draft from town counsel. Staff said the draft could arrive within one to two weeks, which might allow a public hearing next month. Sam, who gave the health department updates, said the department asked for a $20,000 increase to fund a 19-hour-a-week part-time environmental health inspector, plus a 3 percent increase for the rest of the budget.

The board approved January's minutes. Sam introduced new regional epidemiologist Sarah Lavari and said a regional public health nurse offer was expected Friday for a home-visit program for new parents. Care-cab handled about 56 round-trip rides last month, and the program now uses Lyft.
