The Dedham Board of Health voted 3-0 to recommend the town's first full fee-schedule overhaul in more than a decade.
Board of Health · Meeting of August 11, 2026
DEDHAM — The Dedham Board of Health voted 3-0 to recommend the town's first full fee-schedule overhaul in more than a decade. Staff member Sam said current food-permit revenue of about $73,000 would rise to roughly $115,000 under the new structure, which moves to a town manager-led public hearing before taking effect. Camp fees would shift from a flat $250 to a tiered $500, $750 or $1,000 based on enrollment, and risk-category-four food permits would reach $1,200 annually.
The board separately voted 3-0 to grant Lisa Moran, longtime manager of the Dedham Youth Baseball snack shack, a variance from the Certified Food Manager exam after she twice scored 68 on the required 70-point test, calling it "the absolute worst experience." Board member Jessica Katherine Paulus also opened research into a possible "nicotine-free generation" tobacco policy, noting 26 Massachusetts towns, including Needham and Newton, have adopted similar measures; no vote was taken.
