Dedham Police earns reaccreditation for three more years
The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission has reaccredited the Dedham Police Department for another three years, following a reassessment in April 2026. The department was first accredited in October 2017.
The Dedham Police Department has earned full reaccreditation for another three-year period from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC), Police Chief Michael d'Entremont announced. The department was initially accredited in October 2017.
A team of MPAC-appointed assessors reassessed the department in April 2026 and found it in compliance with all applicable standards for reaccreditation.
According to MPAC, accreditation is a self-initiated evaluation process in which police departments work to meet standards covering areas such as policy development, emergency response planning, training, communications, property and evidence handling, use of force, vehicular pursuit, and prisoner transportation and holding facilities. Dedham police had to demonstrate compliance with more than 270 mandatory program standards and more than 70 optional standards.
"I am proud of the efforts of all our personnel in continuing to embrace and work to maintain accreditation status for the Department. Accreditation reflects the commitment by the Department to provide professional police services based on recognized best practices for all members of our community," d'Entremont said.
A department team led the preparation effort and worked with MPAC assessors, including Deputy Chief Steven Munchbach, Lieutenant Robert Nedder, Sergeant Jason Sullivan, Sergeant Steven Feeley, Sergeant Detective Michael Doyle and Officer James Lemanski.
The town said accreditation standards affect officer and public safety, address liability and risk management issues, and promote operational efficiency. Accreditation also aims to promote accountability among personnel, provide independent evaluation of agency operations, enhance public confidence and improve delivery of law enforcement services.
