Dedham Basketball Association scholarship winners are headed to Tennessee, Northeastern and beyond as the youth league seeks new board volunteers.
DEDHAM -- With Dedham High School out of season and no games reported by ArbiterLive for the week of July 13-19, the town's sports news centered on off-season business at the Dedham Basketball Association (DBA).
YOUTH LEAGUES -- The DBA, which runs Dedham's town and travel boys and girls basketball programs, listed registration for both its Town and Travel Basketball programs as closed on its website. The league is also promoting an "Upcoming Summer Clinic," with registration available through the Clinic tab on its site.
Separately, the DBA board is recruiting new volunteers, saying it is "looking for engaged parents--especially of younger players--to join the DBA board and help with key needs like gym scheduling, fundraising, and other important program support." Parents interested were directed to email the board at dedhambasketballboard@gmail.com.
The DBA's website also recognized several scholarship winners: Abby LeGendre, headed to the University of Tennessee; Keira Murphy-Clinton, headed to Northeastern University; Dante Gutierrez, headed to the University of South Carolina; and Grace Bender, headed to Salve Regina University.
Other town youth sports sites offered little new information for the period. The Dedham Little League website remained under construction ("Coming Soon"), and Dedham Youth Hockey's site showed no news items from within the period. The Dedham Public Schools athletics page and Patch's Dedham sports section likewise had no new items dated to the week.
