DEDHAM -- Youth basketball and hockey organizations posted season updates this week.
YOUTH LEAGUES -- The Dedham Basketball Association says "Town Registration Open" and "Travel Tryout Registration is open," with a note to "Hover over the Travel image below to access the link" for tryout sign-ups. The DBA describes Town Basketball as open to grades K-12 with "no tryouts, all registered players placed on a team," priced at "$135/player; includes team jersey" (family max $270, with "price increase to $160/player for late registrations"). Travel Basketball, for grades 3-8, requires tryouts and costs "$380; covers league entry, refs, gym rentals, first time uniforms." The DBA also says it is "looking for engaged parents, especially of younger players, to join the DBA board" as volunteers, and lists four scholarship winners: Abby LeGendre (University of Tennessee), Keira Murphy-Clinton (Northeastern University), Dante Gutierrez (University of South Carolina) and Grace Bender (Salve Regina University).
Separately, Dedham Youth Hockey has posted its team levels and 2026 fall schedule, listing programs including "VHL-Travel Hockey: Mite-Bantam," "Girls Travel Hockey," "U6 Mites," "TLL - U8 Mites," a "Developing Mites Clinic," "Learn To Skate," "Introduction to Hockey," "Non Tryout Teams," "Co-Ed Middle School" and "Summer Jam." Listed teams span Mites through U14, plus U10, U12 and U16/U18 girls squads, with scheduled games beginning the weekend of September 19.
No Dedham High School games were listed for this period, and no new Recreation Department, Little League or community-league items were posted beyond what has already been reported.
