The Dedham Basketball Association has opened registration for Travel Basketball tryouts, according to the league's website, with Town Basketball registration set to open soon.

Travel teams, open to players in grades three through eight, require tryouts, with practices beginning in November and games running from December through early March. Town Basketball, open to all skill levels in grades kindergarten through 12, requires no tryouts and runs from early December through late February, with one practice per week for first and second graders and one game per week, all played in Dedham.

The league listed Town Basketball registration at $135 per player, with a family maximum of $270, rising to $160 per player after Nov. 16. Travel Basketball costs $380, covering league entry, officials, gym rentals and first-time uniforms. The DBA said financial assistance is available for families who reach out directly to the league president, with requests handled confidentially.

The association is also continuing to recruit parent volunteers for its board, citing needs in gym scheduling, fundraising and program support, and asked interested parents to contact dedhambasketballboard@gmail.com.
