DEDHAM — The Dedham Zoning Board of Appeals continued a contested special permit hearing for a Court Street consignment boutique after residents said a 77-page legal brief arrived with no time to review it. Vice Chair Thomas Ryan, presiding for an absent Chair Scott Steeves, led the board in voting 5-0 to push the hearing to November 18. Attorney Harry Eliopoulos argued the proposed boutique would be "not substantially more detrimental" than the office use it would replace, but neighbor Tanya Holton, a 26-year resident of 30 Court Street, countered that "any retail use will be substantially more detrimental" in the residential zone.

In unrelated votes, the board unanimously approved resubmission of a revised floodplain special permit at 75 Bingham Avenue, citing a 15 percent reduction in floor area and a cut from ten to eight bedrooms, and approved a setback special permit for a second-story addition at 32 Lower East Street.
