The Dedham Select Board approved a $250,000 plan to remove illegal sewer hookups blamed for backups near Bonham Road.
Select Board · Meeting of August 20, 2026
DEDHAM — The Dedham Select Board approved a $250,000 plan to remove illegal sewer hookups blamed for backups near Bonham Road. Director of Engineering Jason Momone said about 50 properties have prohibited connections, such as sump pumps and open floor drains, contributing roughly 350,000 gallons of peak inflow; the town will pay contractors directly so homeowners face no cost. Momone said clean-water inflow and infiltration made up 51 percent of flow sent to the MWRA in fiscal year 2024, equal to about $3.3 million of the town's $6.4 million assessment.
Member Erin Boles Welsh called the outcome "a really best-case scenario." The board also swore in Sergeant Brian Crump, a 27-year department veteran, and approved a corrected no-parking window on Caldwell Drive near Green Lodge School.
