DEDHAM — The Dedham Facilities Master Plan Steering Committee reviewed code compliance, pool finances and debt capacity ahead of an October 7 public forum. Fire Chief William DeVincent and Building Commissioner Bill McGree told the committee no inspected town buildings carry active code violations, though the East Dedham Fire Station, built in 1891, still lacks fire suppression. Parks and Recreation's Bob Stanley said the pool runs an annual loss "over $400,000 per year," recovering 40 to 55 percent of operating costs.
Director of Finance Brady Winsten presented debt figures showing $1.17 million in debt service rolling off by fiscal year 2028 against roughly $600,000 in new borrowing, leaving net capacity of $582,840. Member Jessica Porter said a proposed "net tax impact" slide was "not meaningful" and pushed for simpler messaging. No votes were taken.
