DEDHAM — The Dedham Conservation Commission voted unanimously to close a notice of violation against Amtrak for unauthorized tree clearing along its rail right-of-way. Amtrak's Robert Graham, senior project manager for environmental compliance, said the company adopted a new procedure requiring coordination with local conservation agents, "so we do have a procedure now," after crews previously cleared trees without notice. The commission also cleared certificates of compliance at 250 Westfield Street and two Dedham Country and Polo Club drainage sites, and issued negative determinations for a dumpster-pad relocation at 80 Bridge Street and a Hefe Field resurfacing project at Memorial Park presented by Dedham Parks and Recreation's Bob Stanley.

Two buffer-zone disputes, a proposed addition at 37 Ice House Lane and an after-the-fact filing for an unpermitted roughly 20-foot retaining wall at 18 Power Street, were continued to November 5. Resource Associate Member Matthew Layne questioned whether approving the wall's mitigation plan would reward unpermitted work, asking, "What if the next neighbor says, I want a 20-foot wall?"
